Gail Trimble edit

I noticed someone proposed to merge the above article into this one a while ago, but it seems the discussion area was never created, so here it is. I support this merge, as Gail Trimble appears to be a person known only for one event, who briefly received a lot of news coverage, but never attained lasting notability. Having helped set up the article on Gail Trimble a year or so ago, and argued then that it should be kept separate, I would now support a merger, as she has not demonstrated notability since that time, so far as I am aware. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:05, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oppose merge Whilst it's agreed to be a marginal case for notability per WP:BLP1E, we have many articles on "contestants" of various forms who are far less significant. So this merge would thus have to preserve pretty much all of the existing content at Gail Trimble (It's there, it's referenced and BLP1E is no excuse to start deleting it) - that's surely going to give rise to a rather unbalanced article (what else happened at University Challenge 2009?). This just seems like make-work that isn't going to make a better encyclopedia.

Secondly, "a year or so" is too short to expect her to jump through some new hoop for us (although I've no doubt she'll leave some mark on the world somewhere in time). Just what were we expecting? A slot on Celebrity Big Brother? A Fields Medal? Andy Dingley (talk) 16:28, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'd support a merge, as I did at the time the article was created. Trimble has done nothing notable since the events of the series, and until she does she doesn't deserve a separate article. If and when she has some other achievements worth recording, a separate page can be recreated. Until that time, her article fails WP:BLP1E. Jonobennett (talk) 16:26, 15 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
