Talk:Universal C*-algebra

Latest comment: 17 years ago by CSTAR in topic expansion

I'm confused... this article raises more questions than it answers.

The first bit was fine, until we got to how to get to the C* algebra from the B* one. Hope someone can clear this up! Thanks.

expansion edit

IMHO, the current article reads more like a section of an article on univerisal C*-algebras. an universal C*-algebra just means one with generators and relations. a few simple examples can be included, like the ones following from the spectral theorem and the unitary representation of a group. Go for it. :) Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 15:18, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I agree this article is terrible, for which I take complete responsibility. Maybe I got entangled in some fight or other on Bell's theorem or some other topic on wikipedia. Who knows. What I had intended to do is discuss basic structures such as the Cunz algebras and graph algebras, but I never got around to it, and don't plan to either. Note there is an article Universal enveloping algebra.--CSTAR 16:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
