UPP proportional representation list edit

Despite the party's resolution, it is likely that UPP will keep its six proportional seats (making UPP's total seat 13) since it cannot force the elected legislators to quit. But I felt that a little clarification would be helpful here.

UPP submitted twenty proportional representative candidates to NEC, of which fourteen were chosen by the party member's votes. The other six candidates were selected based on their career, and Rhyu Si-min (List No. 14) was one of them. The party's resolution recommended that all four party's co-leaders and fourteen candidates chosen by the voting should step down, and Rhyu Si-min said he would turn down a seat in the Assembly to take responsibilities for the scandal. A quote from the Korea Times news: Title: "Progressives in feud over rigging", Date: 6 May 2012, Author: Lee Tae-hoon.

If all 14 proportional representative candidates quit as recommended and Rhyu turns down a lawmaker seat, the UPP will end up having a maximum of five proportional lawmakers.

As of 8 May 2012, both Lee Seok-gi (List No. 2) and Kim Jae-yeon (List No. 3) are refusing to quit despite the mounting pressure. --- PBJT (talk) 20:42, 8 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
