RfC on several issues

edit

Hello. I see several issues with other user's edits. Please, see history of the article. First of all, names of characters and actors in Japanese (the movie's original language) were added, moreover using «Character: Actor» formula instead of «Actor as Character». An unnecessary link to the prequel series' characters list was also added to the plot section. I tried resolving the issues, at first explaining my reverts during the changes and then contacting the user, but it led nowhere. Also, another anonymous user moves the cast section under «Production» and «Release», which I don't think is right. Please, help in resolving these issues. Thanks. Several problems here. This really isn't structured as an RFC which should have a specific question. Next, when you have a difference of opinion, the first thing to to is to discuss it on the talk page. Finally, all that I see described in your wording is a difference of opinion. I'm sorry. I'm not really used to rules of English Wikipedia, since I usually edit in another language. We practically have an edit war here and the user isn't cooperating at all. I searched for how edit wars can be resolved and found that it can be done through such request. Maybe I was missed something, sorry for that. But then please, tell me. How should I search for help? As I said already, the user doesn't give a proper explanation and doesn't want to discuss. Of course, it's a difference of opinion. But I can't think of any edit wars that aren't because of different of opinion. If this wasn't the right course of action, it's my mistake. But could you please help and recommend me where I can get help in resolving these issues? Дейноніх (talk) 20:34, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've pulled the {{rfc}} tag for several reasons: first, it has a big red error message which should have been acted upon immediately it was shown (at 16:12) and not left untouched for more than six hours; second, there is no indication that WP:RFCBEFORE has been observed (RfCs are an instrument of last resort, not the first thing to reach for when you have a question to ask); third, the statement is not neutral; fourth, RfCs are not for discussing user conduct. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:33, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello. As I said, I already understand that this wasn't the right course of action. But what should I do then? I have no idea. Дейноніх (talk) 07:01, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Did you read WP:RFCBEFORE? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:31, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
As I said already, I have read it. Now, after you asked me, I did it again. None of the other variants are appropriate in this situation. Asking for help in WikiProject doesn't sound like the right thing to do, since our conflict doesn't have anything to do with the page's WikiProject. Just another, third opinion isn't enough: the user doesn't want to listen, the article should be protected, no matter who is right. This also isn't a conflict between more users and I'm not looking to improve the article. In that situation, as simple phrase as «Request for comment» sounded the best option. Though, again, I apologize for choosing the wrong course of action, as pointed by two people already. However, as I see it now, resolving the edit war isn't possible at all. Even a user, such experienced with rules as yourself, can't recommend me anything. I guess no one will help and the edit war will be continued until one of us is blocked. Thanks for your time and have a nice day. Дейноніх (talk) 19:53, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Asking for assistance at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film is precisely the sort of thing that you should have done. Even a short post like "Please join in the discussion at Talk:Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond#RfC on several issues" would have been fine. Similarly, instead of vague statements like then contacting the user, you should have linked to the discussion(s) that you raised. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:24, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
As I already said, I didn't see such an option logical to do, as the page should be protected at least, therefore I didn't do it. However, if you say so, I'll ask for help there later. Saying that right after I asked you for help is precisely the sort of thing that you should have done. As for the «vague statements», you could've at least visited the page's revision history and visit my contributions. Therefore, you could've noticed my unsuccessful attempt at User talk:Harimua Thailand. You're making me look like I'm wrong here, when I'm the only one here who tried calmly and respectfully resolve this whole situation. I don't see a need to apologize again for requesting for comment. That's all. I think our talk here is finished. Дейноніх (talk) 17:04, 25 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I shouldn't be made to chase around, I have other things to do. It would have been easier for you to add a link to User talk:Harimua Thailand#Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond, and anywhere else you have discussed this. If you want help, it is up to you to provide as much background and context as you can; if you want the page to be protected, that is a matter for WP:RFPP, and they won't protect without good reason. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:10, 25 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
