John Ericsson

There is no mention of John Ericsson on this page. That is an oversight. Much of the ship's design was his; the flawed gun is not, the other gun was his design. AS a result of this Disaster Ericsson - and Stockton's effort - blame was falsely placed on him, yet nearly 20 years later he designed and oversaw the construction of another very highly innovative ship, and more famous- USS Monitor. --Wfoj2 (talk) 23:58, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Succession Reference

In the impact section, it referred to the possible succession of the Speaker of the House (John Winston Jones). In fact, at the time, the succession order of the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker was reversed from what it is today (see Presidential Succession Act), so Willie Person Mangum was next in line, the article has been updated to reflect this. There was also no indication of why Tyler's vice president would not have succeeded him (he had none), and I corrected this by noting that Tyler himself succeeded when president Harrison died. RM2KX (talk) 04:42, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
