Mahayana

The whole article seems to be inappropriately defined by Mahayana Buddhism's standards, especially their views on the bodhisatta. This needs to show where Mahayana and Theravadin (as well as pre-sectarian) Buddhism seperates.

Name

Is there a reason the article is titled Tushita when all the quotes used in the article as well as every single one of the sources used for the article spell it Tusita? Wikiman5676 (talk) 05:18, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

oppose - maybe the article text needs to change and adequate redirects created - in real life (north west India) the spelling tends to have the h included - and specific places and venture utilised in Tibetan Buddhism have the h included JarrahTree 03:16, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

That's an interesting point. I actually did not know that. Although I would argue that we would have to have at least some of these sources from Tibetan Buddhism and northwest India included. Thai Buddhism mostly uses Tusita and some of the sources used in the article have some Thai influence. India is arguably more correct than Thai in terms of Buddhist words like this but I feel like the article would have to cite some of these sources at least. Google Scholar and News

Checking the first ten pages of sources on Google Scholar, I found 7 instances of Tushita and 19 of Tusita. However, searching on Google News (depersonalized), I found 32 instances of Tushita as opposed to 8 instances of Tusita. So it depends on whether we prefer common scholarly usage or common usage in news sources, with scholars preferring Tusita and journalists preferring Tushita. Considering the subject matter of the article, I would think scholarly usage would be more appropriate: Tusita.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 12:07, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

I think the whole thing is missing the point - I do not trust the google algorithms - and they are relatively irrelevent in this articles fate, they have little relevance to this discussion.

To go any further in this discussion is moving into dead horse territory - wherever the article sits - as long as adequate space is spent in the article identifying the tendencies observed culturally in the spelling (wiuth or without the h) - there is little else that really needs to be done JarrahTree 12:17, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

I agree as long as cultural tendencies are identified it doesn't matter how you spell it. But the problem is the article only uses Tushita as the title, every other time the name is used it spells it Tusita. Granted someone could easily just change the spelling for each appearance, but both quotes in the article also use Tusita, and of course, you cannot simply change the spelling of a quote.
