Misleading
editArticle currently reads Water from the reservoir flows through the Tumut 1 and Tumut 2 power stations, and returns to the Tumut River further downstream. In fact there are four dams and four main power stations in sequence on the Tumut River:
- Tumut Pond Reservior delivers water to Tumut 1 Power Station, and receives it from both the river and the Snowy-Tumut Diversion.
- Tumut 2 Pondage delivers water to Tumut 2 Power Station.
- Talbingo Dam delivers water to Tumut 3 Power Station.
- Blowering Dam delivers water to Blowering Power Station.
All of this is documented elsewhere in our articles and/or at the SMA website:
- http://www.snowyhydro.com.au/levelTwo.asp?pageID=66&parentID=4 and its subpages.
In older publicity material, maps and schematics of the scheme show a Tumut 4 Power Station, fed by Tumut 4 Pondage, both of them logically enough between Tumut 3 and Blowering, and Tumut 3 is fed by "Tumut 3 Pondage", not Talbingo, which does not appear. Exactly how this corresponds to what was built I have never been able to find out.
Part of the problem is there is no overview of the scheme with a schematic anywhere in Wikipedia or elsewhere on the Web that I can find. Perhaps the money for publicity ran out and accurate representations of what was built simply do not exist, although there is still an active education program run by the SMA (now Snowy Hydro Limited). We should take steps to acquire or create some. Andrewa (talk) 20:00, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I made some tweaks and I think the text is good now. There is a good overview map here.--NortyNort (Holla) 15:29, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
