Origin of name edit
I heard that this name is originally from the Manding taara wɛlɛ ("go to call" as in to summon).--A12n (talk) 16:57, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
Follow-up: Actually it's taara wele. I edited the intro to reflect this. Referred to a 1979 article partially available from Jeune Afrique via Google books for the geographic distribution.--A12n (talk) 03:09, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
