It has been suggested that "Signalman (rail)" be merged into this article "Train dispatcher"
editAgree, good idea. Taylor 49 (talk) 10:48, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose There should be a discussion first about which title (North American or UK variant) should be used. Also, this article lacks sufficient sourcing, while the British article makes more references to secondary sources (while here we only have 2 primary sources [rulebooks] and 1 which makes barely a passing mention). 107.190.33.254 (talk) 22:31, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose on the ground that the roles are different, and the topics are independently notable. Any merge proposal should also consider the US variant Switchman. Klbrain (talk) 11:42, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
- Closing, given the uncontested opposition. Klbrain (talk) 03:18, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
UK train dispatcher
editIn the UK, ‘train dispatcher’ refers to a completely different occupation. There should probably be a note here to that effect, if not a disambiguating link to a separate article. Axnicho (talk) 21:28, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed... I think that the whole merge discussion should be had in the other direction.

Total mess
editThis article is a total mess that is completely US-centric. Eldomtom2 (talk) 17:56, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Then expand the article instead of just bitching on the talk page. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 21:56, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Talk pages are an acceptable way of raising issues. Not everyone has the time to make full rewrites of Wikipedia pages.--Eldomtom2 (talk) 16:51, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
