Player in Australia edit

Ss112 insists on adding [1] as a source for "Player" appearing on the ARIA Singles Chart at number 102. The problems I have are: (a) that chart only has 100 places, as far as I can tell and (b) if this position is true, surely it would be published by the ARIA somewhere. Adabow (talk) 22:43, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

ARIA are reluctant to publish anything below the top 50 officially. One has to check the ARIA Report for 51-100 to view those places, so it's doubtful they would because they already don't for whatever reason. Gavin Ryan, who writes their official Chartifacts, shares that info on a forum on australian-charts.com. If he were just some random guy who claimed to know, I would understand the hesitation. And sure, the chart has 100 official places, but if a peak can be cited, it should be included. For instance when Robin Thicke's album Paula charted below several major charts, those peaks were published. Ss112 23:01, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
They do publish 51–100 officially, just not on their free website. Nowhere else have I heard of more than 100 places for the ARIA charts. See the chart rules which make mention of only 100 places. Furthermore, if it is not supported by any ARIA document, then it fails to meet WP:CHART. Simply because an industry insider can extrapolate a pseudo-chart position by considering all sales (what the Thicke Noise11 source seems to do), doesn't mean that we can consider that position as reliable, notable or even meaningful. You don't need to act like you're educating me on charts or the Australian ones. I'm pretty sure I would know more about ARIA's "rules" than even you. "Officially" was the wrong choice of word; I meant a citable source published online by ARIA. A position by an "insider" is a more reliable indication of success than pretending it didn't peak just outside the top 100. I really don't think for instance that positions 101-200 for the UK are published by OCC somewhere accessible, but zobbel.de, published by Tobias Z, an individual, is still considered reliable as an archive for UK below-100 peaks. PROBLEM SOLVED! It debuted at number 90. http://www.noise11.com/news/music-news-aria-singles-adele-hello-spends-third-week-at-no-1-20151114 Ss112 06:52, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK, that'll do until Chartifacts are published next week. Note that Ryan talks about the "lower fifty", indicating that there are indeed only 100 positions on the chart. Adabow (talk) 07:58, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I know that, but what I'm saying is if positions below the "official" chart can be cited, why not? And really, the Noise11 source is a reliable source in its own right; it doesn't have to be replaced with ARIA's Chartifacts. The archive isn't always regularly updated anyway. But whatever. I'm done. I don't even care about Tinashe as much as this "discussion" would imply anyway. Ss112 08:19, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Party Favors edit

Tinashe's official website wrote that "Player" is the first single of Joyride [2]. Music Times called "Party Favors" just a 'buzz track'. I guess it's only a promo single or we can simply leave it as non-album single since it's on iTunes. --Eurofan88 (talk) 21:05, 28 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

The Music Times ref seems reliable enough to classify it as a promotional single, granted that it seems to be a synonym for 'buzz track'. I'll change it now. Azealia911 talk 21:17, 28 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
