Overlap with other timelines edit

We seem to have several timelines with a huge overlap: this one (Timeline of computational mathematics), Timeline of numerical analysis after 1945, Timeline of scientific computing and Timeline of modern scientific computing. Is it necessary to distinguish these, and if so, can we describe how these fields differ? -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 09:51, 22 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

There may well be an overlap in some of the articles, and this simply is accidental and temporary (see Timeline of modern scientific computing and my thoughts on Talk:Timeline of scientific computing). As these articles are spun out, the distinctions "should" begin to appear (so yes, hope that answers your question on whether or not (I think) it is neccesary to distinguish between them). By the way, this article is above the level of Timeline of numerical analysis after 1945, numerical analysis being contained in computational mathematics.
