Inconsistencies?
editI've never read the Pern novels, and I was a bit curious so I started reading about it in Wikipedia, and one thing jumped to my attention. Thread is defined as something that eats all organic matter, yet at some point deformed dragons are created that can eat thread. That immediately set off my plot hole alert! I've found a couple references in reviews of Dragonblood that criticize this fact... what gives? What's the official explanation? Should there be a section in wikipedia explaining this or whatever? 200.48.20.67 15:58, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- That's odd. From what I've read, fish love to eat drown Thread, and I havn't read Dragonblood. Mabey if the Thread has been killed? It seems that it'd be a risky move on the Dragon's side of things. Stray strands could graze the mouth, jaw, eyes, etc. Perhaps a dragon with a belly full of firestone? - I just finished reading Dragonblood. It turns out that Watch-whers can eat thread. The exact mechanism is not explained, allthough Wind Blossom does mention adding silica based armour to the skin of the watch-whers...perhaps this is in it's mouth as well, perhaps long enough for some form of saliva to kill it...heck, maybe it's just water? - If I remember correctly Dragonquest suggested that the fire-lizards could devour Thread but it was never mentioned in any of the other books that I can recall. That book also involved the lizards being used to scout Thread burrows to check if they were active. Barrin 12:42, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
