Picture edit

Does anyone have a picture?

[[1]] - The Manx National Heritage link (also a good resource).

The second picture on the above page has been reused on the net, I notice. --Matt Lewis (talk) 14:14, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I believe it is a fairly commonly used image - there was a framed version of it in my classroom back in junior school. --Muna (talk) 22:51, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Plagiarism addressed edit

I finished comparing article to source, and it's all but completely cribbed (plagiarized)—because regardless of whether something is in or out of copyright, it is simply unacceptable writing practice to use other's blocks of text wholesale, without any attribution to indicate whose voice is being appropriated. The cleverness and datedness of the speech appearing in the article were the giveaways that it had been written by a scholarly, late 19th century Englishman, and indeed, that is where the blocks of text were all found (in the two sources now appearing). I should have noted that the person from whom the content was stolen was Arthur T. Quiller-Couch (for heaven's sake). Have we no shame? I suppose if one is to steal, stealing form the best makes a sort of perverse sense. Le Prof. Leprof 7272 (talk) 03:56, 10 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have started a "Works" sections, and a "Further reading" section, in support of moving this article toward encyclopedic. Eventually, time permitting, I will begin paraphrasing the early block source material, but only after finding other more contemporary scholarly materials to work from. i should do something with this; my doctorate was on Brown, and i co-edited the unexpurgated Fo'c's'le Yarns with Max Sutton. when i find time, i'll do some work on it. plagiarising Q is a little excessive!Ausmanx (talk) 22:42, 30 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
