Allusions to other works referenced in the creatures who help cast the (first) curse

edit

Unless these characters are identified elsewhere in-series -- in which case there should be a parenthetical naming the actor who plays the character -- these really need to be documented with a definite reference source, preferably one from the show's execs. I overhauled the "plot" sections mostly for style and grammar, so I did not remove these references from the article except for the Blind Witch as an allusion to Hansel & Gretel. There are just too many fairy tales, legends, and fantasy-fiction works with blind witches to make that statement without citing it to a reference source, and nothing in that scene identifies her as having a gingerbread house or eating children. Although I did not remove the other two references, if any of the creature effects/costuming do allude to other works, this should be backed either by citations to the show's execs or a reputable critic, or at a minimum by visuals of the paired characters showing unmistakable similarity. Otherwise, that kind of observation seems to be original research. I would encourage the earlier writer of that section to document those allusions; and if not, page editors should probably consider removing them.

Just grabbing this one for a review later today. Miyagawa (talk) 13:05, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • No duplicate links
  • References are all solid, although I'd suggest you find an archived version of the TV By The Numbers link at some point (not needed as part of this review) just as I know from using it for the Enterprise articles that they don't last more than a couple of years before they re-use the urls.
  • Lead: Not really neccessary, but if you wanted to get a wikilink into the first season article in the top of the lead then you could change it to "second episode of the first season of the..." and link "first season" to Once Upon a Time (season 1).
  • Production: A little more information on Beeman wouldn't go amiss. I thought by calling him a Smallville vet that he was simply a director, so I was surprised to find that he was actually an executive producer on the show (at least according to his Wiki article, I didn't go any further than that).
  • Ratings: best to specify (and link) to Nielsen ratings instead of just saying ratings.
  • Reviews: Not sure the A- needs to be in quotes, although if it is then it should be directly cited.

I think that's probably it. On a funny note, I just finished sorting out the article for the episode of Enterprise that Kristin Bauer van Straten appears in only a few days ago. Miyagawa (talk) 11:20, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reviewing! That's funny. That actress seems to be entertaining in everything she's in. Ruby 2010/2013 22:21, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok cool, I think this is good for GA now. Miyagawa (talk) 01:34, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
