GA Review

edit
GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):   b (MoS):
A>lead:"the Northern Celestial Masters, whose practices integrated many Buddhist beliefs." in the lead. HOW??? As a basic rule, the lead must not have anything not written in the article. B>"While he was a Confucianist and had little use for texts such as the Zhuangzi or Dao de jing, he greatly admired Kou and was immediately drawn to him." he is Emperor or prime minister??? THE article Zhuangzi says it is not a text, but a philosopher!!!! In what context is "had little use for texts such as the Zhuangzi or Dao de jing" said?
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
THough added Fact tags in "Beliefs"
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
A> Daoism Handbook By Livia Kohn (reffered in the article) discusses Texts of The Northern Celestial Masters, which is missing. B> Role of Laozi in "the Northern Celestial Masters" should be clearly mentioned. IS he considered the ultimate god??? C>Practices does not include funeral rites, notions of rebirth and hell etc.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
History must also include The "Debates" between The Northern Celestial Masters and Buddhists, which the Buddhists won. (discussed in Daoism Handbook By Livia Kohn, History section).
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
A>Image:Buddhist Stela Northern Wei period.jpg is an img of several Buddhas, of BUddhist faith as per description. How is it related to The Northern Celestial Masters???

B>Image:Northern Wei Votive Offering.jpg "To the uploader: this tag is not a sufficient claim of fair use. You must also include the source of the work, all available copyright information, and a detailed non-free use rationale."

  1. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
    Good Luck improving the article.

Most of the article uses html tags; these should be wikified.

a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
[:Image:Northern Wei Votive Offering.jpg] still does not have an appropriate fair use rationale. If you are the uploader, you must add this rationale. If you are not, you must remove the image from the article if you want it promoted to GA.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
I will put the article on hold for five days to permit the appropriate wikification of the text and removal of or rationalization of the non-fair use image. jackturner3 (talk) 14:30, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
