The Next Me has received significant coverage in sources such as Radio Disney and Jesus Freak Hideout. Songs from this album have been played on Radio Disney, a major radio network in the United States. It is worthy of a standalone article. --Djc wi (talk) 11:45, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Please see my response below. Keep in mind that "worthiness" is not applicable to notability guidelines. Regards, Cind.amuse 11:49, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Album notability

edit

This album lacks notability according to the topical notability criteria presented here. Unfortunately, notability is not established with the inclusion of two songs that were heard during a talent competition. The album has not charted. Nor has it released any charted hits. Notability of albums requires significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Neither the iShine or go.com sources are independent of the subject. This leaves one review to support the article. In this situation, guidelines require the article to either be deleted or redirected to the page of the artist. I opted for the less jarring choice. Which do you prefer? Cind.amuse 11:46, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hm, okay. Before you do anything, let me read the whole thing. --Djc wi (talk) 12:07, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • No problem. I always recommend redirecting an article. In that case, the article can quickly be restored when the subject becomes notable, through significant, independent, and reliable sources. Cind.amuse 12:15, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I've read it. First of all, Radio Disney is independent of the subject. It's a radio network. Secondly, other sources exist. I'll find those sources and reference them in the article. Just don't do anything to the article for 72 hours. If they're not up by then, go ahead and redirect it. --Djc wi (talk) 12:19, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • No problem as far as time. A little background on sourcing. An independent source is one that has no significant connection to the subject and therefore describes it from a disinterested perspective. Independent sources have editorial independence (advertisers do not dictate content) and no conflicts of interest (no potential for personal, financial, or political gain from the publication or relationship). The relationship of the subject (Jasmine) is mutually beneficial with Radio Disney, due to the N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) competition. Therefore, the sourcing of Radio Disney is not independent. On another note, the label and publisher of the subject, Bema Media and iShine, list her name on their roster as simply Jasmine. She is credited professionally in the television show as Jasmine Sagginario. A statement in the singer's article indicates that the singer now goes by the name of Jasmine Sagginario. If this statement cannot be sourced, it needs to be removed. BLP policy states that any content challenged or likely to be challenged needs to be clearly supported with verifiable sources. Lacking these sources, the statement needs to be removed. If a source is provided at a later date, the content can be restored. As far as editing this article, remember to only wikilink once; spell out numbers below 10; and do not use the html hard break, but rather place a bullet before each external link. Okay, sounds good. I'll fix the "External links" section and remove some of the original research statements on the artist article (that, by the way, weren't put up by me). Also, the sources are up. 4 independent reliable sources. 3 are reviews, and one is a reference. --Djc wi (talk) 09:25, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
