The article is weak and poorly referenced; it reads more like a personal reflection. The claim that the poem is an example of concrete poetry is anachronistic; though there was shaped poetry elsewhere in Europe in the 19th century, the kinship between Carroll's poem and that needs a proper reference. The final reference concerning multiple meanings is little more than an anecdote that appeared in a university fly-sheet and is not an acceptable academic reference. Unless these issues are addressed, the article as it stands is an obvious candidate for deletion. Sweetpool50 (talk) 12:34, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Illustration

edit

The illustration claims to be from the 1865 printing. This seems unlikely if a comparison is made with the image (claimed 1866) at [1] which is referenced at the end of the article. Even allowing for there being different US and UK editions the significantly different line breaks as well as the typeface used mean that more evidence is needed that this really is 1865 and not a much later reprint. 78.145.166.42 (talk) 16:36, 4 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
