Historical accuracy and period

I watched the film several times, and I think it´s mostly quite accurate, but as far as I know, there were no towns in the central plains of Nebrasca before the 1860s, ca. ten years after the film plays. My research showed that the first towns in Nebasca in the 1850s only existed in the east at the Missouri River. Also they don´t mention the exact year in the film, when I remember correct. But at the end of the film you see slaves on a wagon that show that it´s pre civil war. Also the guns, some enemies of the Tommy Lee Jones character in the beginning still use single shot muzzleloading guns while he uses an Colt Navy 1851, just the modern gun of the 1850s. Loup City was founded later than the 1850s, as far as I found information online. The homestead act came in 1862. plot summary edit

Quality of article can be improved by including in the plot section, a one sentence summary of the plot (the point of the points/details in the article itself now). So reader doesn't have to go through paragraphs of content to figure out by reading one sentence (preferably stated in the beginning of Plot section and then state the specifics). I think the content is very good as it is now but it would also be a good idea to summarise it in one sentences for readers who want to quickly 'get the story' so to speak — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.79.143.139 (talk) 05:10, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

He then suggests marriage to young Tabitha Hutchinson (Hailee Steinfeld) after feeling guilty about not taking Mary Bee's proposal, but then decides against it and leaves the young girl be. Instead, he makes a headstone for Cuddy's grave and boards a barge as he departs.
