From WP:RfD:

  • Endless --> Infinity -- "Endless" is not a common synonym for "Infinity". Even if it were, "Endless" has many other meetings. ---Isaac R 06:55, 1 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
    • Endless means infinite, not infinity. Besides infinite, what are those "many other meanings"? In mathematics, the German word unendlich -- quite literally endless -- is always (or nearly always) translated as infinite. The word with many meanings here is infinite, not endless. • We're not talking about all the different meanings of "infinity" (that's for Wiktionary). We're talking about specific meanings in math and philosophy. In English, "Endless" has no meanings that apply to the Infinity article. Perhaps there's a stronger correspondence in German, but that's a matter for the German edition. ---Isaac R 19:10, 6 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
    • Specific meanings in mathematics are just what I have in mind! "Endless" obviously does have meanings that apply to the infinity article. The sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... of positive integers is endless. Equivalently, it is infinite. Michael Hardy 19:14, 6 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
    • ... and when I wrote that "infinite" has many meanings, I meant specific meanings in mathematics. Did you think I meant something else? Michael Hardy 19:15, 6 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
    • As the first remark pointed out: "Endless" has other meanings, and at least one (a 1956 song) deserves an article. And nothing actually linked to the redirect, so replacing causes no real problems. So rather than delete, I replaced the article. If someone, in turn, wants to make other articles, just move that one and make a disambiguation page. -- BRG 19:23, May 9, 2005 (UTC)

  • What about the indie rock band "The Endless", creator of the albums "The Republic of Heaven" and "Somniloquy"? I tried to add a mention of them a while back and it was deleted under the "notability" and "self-promotion" guidelines, as if I had anything to do with the band or as if they somehow don't count as a band.174.46.172.13 (talk) 07:00, 7 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Redirect to film?

edit

I think it'd make sense for this page to go directly to "The Endless (film)", as that's what people who add "the" are most likely searching for. It'd be better to just move the page to this title. - Sdkb (talk) 20:43, 27 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
