Real life person whom the character of Major Barnes was based

Lieutenant Colonel Leonard W. Engeman was an Armor officer who commanded the 14th Tank Battalion and was overall commander of the combined arms task force comprised of both the 14th Tank Battalion and the 27th Armored Infantry Battalion during the drive to the Rhine. Major Murray L. Deevers was the commander of the 27th Armored Infantry Battalion and the immediate superior of Lt. Karl H. Timmermann, and the real-life person who was analogous to Major Barnes. Highly fictionalized?

We have a paragraph in the lede describing how highly fictionalized the film was, which is never mentioned in the body of the article. On the other had, the article does have a (properly cited) "Accuracy" section, which describes the film as "95 percent" accurate and does not mention any fictionalization.
