• "Cambridge opted to arrive a fortnight later than usual at Henley" - what does this mean exactly? There's no other context to put "Henley" in

• "Cambridge's number six J. B. Bell hailed from Australia" - wouldn't "was" be easier than "hailed" (or even was Australian)?

• "Following a series of spurts" - I'm sure "spurts" was linked in other Boat Race articles to something, but I can't remember what
