This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because...

I have already explained that the band is a notable band. I replaced the speedy deletion tag with a

tag instead.

Ben Ben, you need to look at the info and background of an article before you start placing Speedy Deletion tags on the pages.

Placing speedy deletion tags spoils the growth of the articles as people stay away from those "tagged" ones and don't contribute to or improve them. This is the problem. This is why it's much better to place a notability tag then come back to revisit it a time later to check it's growth. This is what Wikipedia is supposed to be about.

Thankyou (Surfing Today (talk) 02:08, 3 May 2014 (UTC))Reply

  • I'm declining the speedy, but I'll be honest: this page could be easily deleted as a promotional page for the band. Part of the issue is that in trying to assert notability, you've made this sound like something someone wrote in order to help sell the band's music. This might not have been your intention, but you've got to be careful of NPOV. In any case, there's enough notability asserted to where if this is deleted, it should be through AfD. I'm trying to find sources to help establish notability, as most of the links here are WP:PRIMARY sources that cannot show notability regardless of where they're posted. • Basically, you can't really just say a band is notable without also using sources that are independent of the band itself. The LAT article is good, but we need stuff such as reviews by places like AllMusic and Pitchfork. There were reviews by AM, which helps, but you've got to be careful of the biography sections on that site because very often they're written by someone who is involved with the band in some fashion or they're taken directly from the band's website. Hi Tokyogirl79, thanks for saving the article. I'm not in total agreement with what you say but you do make sense on this with some other aspects. Anyway this sometimes works better for an article and from what you've done now it can set the tone for what comes later and that's how articles grow into better ones. Thanks.
