Ron Ely replaced him?

edit

The Production notes section says that Ron Ely replaced Mike Henry as Tarzan, but how? The film series started in the 1930s and ended with Mike Henry's last Tarzan film, which was this one. Ron Ely was a television Tarzan, not part of the series. This is like saying that Christopher Lee replaced Bela Lugosi as Dracula. They're separate series. 24.57.210.141 (talk) 21:32, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Mike Henry was signed to appear as Tarzan in the NBC television series. He was to start filming as soon as "Tarzan and the Jungle Boy" wrapped production (although "Jungle Boy" was released in 68, it was filmed in early '66). After the bite from the chimp, and a general falling out with producer Sy Weintraub, Henry bowed out of the series, and subsequently sued Weintraub and his company for unsafe working conditions, etc. Ron Ely had been signed to appear in the Tarzan series as a "Tarzan imposter." With Henry out, Ely was asked to play the real deal. He accepted. Sir Rhosis (talk) 21:45, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
