I propose that Ethnic Chinese (disambiguation) be merged into Tang Chinese. I think that the content in the Ethnic Chinese (disambiguation) article can easily be explained in the context of Tang Chinese, and the Tang Chinese article is of a reasonable size that the merging of Ethnic Chinese (disambiguation) will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. I've removed the merge tag as these are dab pages - not articles. DexDor (talk) 19:19, 15 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Merging didn`t say that disambiguation pages cannot be merged, and "Tang Chinese" (唐人) and "Ethnic Chinese" (華人) are really synonym.UU (talk) 19:51, 16 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
From what I understand, 華人 (Hua people), 漢人 (Han people) and 唐人 (Tang people), though generally can be translated as Chinese or Han Chinese (see the section #Names in the article) in English, are actually different terms with different connotations and usages in Chinese langaguage. The first two terms seems be more interchangeable with each other while the last one is used more limited. I don't think that Tang Chinese and Ethnic Chinese (disambiguation) should be merged. • Strenuously Oppose (yes adding "strenuous" makes no difference but nevertheless I feel strongly). This is a disambiguation page and not an article. Disambiguation pages are to assist readers looking for a particular article with a similar name in English. Discussion about how the topic of one particular article differs from another belongs on the articles. Since "Tang Chinese" is not spelled or pronounced anything like "Ethnic Chinese", merging these non-article disambiguation pages is entirely inappropriate. • Note since the proposer is determined to see process through here I have requested closure by a non-involved admin. The sooner this proposal is dealt with, the sooner the distracting templates can be removed. MegaSloth (talk) 09:15, 12 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
