Above statement is untrue (suspect Zepro employee aded this) The Tail Lift was first designed in 1948 by Ted Ratcliff and developed this in (If I remember right Edgeware or that area of Middlesex [now London]). His business still exists today as RatcliffPalfinger still in the premises in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire UK. Over the years the business passed through name changes and ownership (Burtonwood Engineering, US Industries, Ratcliff Tail Lifts). John Ratcliff(former Variety Club Cheif Barker and Ted's son) owned the business with sister Marsha up to a few years ago.
Other Manufactuers: Tommy Lift, Maxon, Ross & Bonnyman.
Very interesting information which needs citation, and for that reason more appropriate on talk. I'll have a look when I get a chance

Any references to "tukaway" in the Tuckunder section being used to describe the type of lift gate generally should be removed, as this is a violation of Maxon's trademark rights and federally registered trademark registrations, nos. 4,869,153 and 678,033. Specifically, the wording, "or 'tuckaway,' lifts" should be removed and the wording, "invented the first tuckaway lift" should be changed to "invented the first tuckunder lift." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.227.7.50 (talk) 23:48, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
