platforms

I'm confused. The info box thing says that the game will also be released on the PS2, but the info is not in the article itself. Will it be released on PS2? And if not, should it be taken out of the info box?Yugioh73036 16:31, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036

The only platforms I've heard it be for are PS3, X360, and the Wii. I don't think it'll be on PS2 or Xbox.12.37.71.144 00:03, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Midway stated that the game will be on most CURRENT and all NEXT Gen consoles, in their press conference about it, so it will probably be on the PS2 and Xbox. Tommyspud 02:06, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

I just read on tnawrestling.com that they (Midway) are brainstorming with Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles for gameplay ideas. Styles and Jeff Jarrett are doing motion capture 4 it currently.Yugioh73036 20:41, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036

Roster and Story mode

Its obvious that the big stars like Christian Cage and Abyss will be there but who else do you think will be there. I'm thinking Chris Sabin will be on there. And as for story mode, what do you think it will be about.- User:Packratt200

I don't know. That explains why it ain't comin' out 'till '07.lolYugioh73036 02:27, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036
It would be a blessing if they had Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal since their mid card wrestlers.- User:Packratt200

What about the X Cup in Story mode? That would be pretty cool.Yugioh73036 19:16, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036

That sounds cool. All the X division guys in a video game is really cool. I think the World X Cup story mode would be good also.- User:Packratt200

Where are the sources for all these people?Yugioh73036 06:00, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036

The X-cup storyline would be a problem, since Midway would have to license the other companies. AAA(Mexico), 1PW(U.K.), A/NJPW(Japan)... Do I even have to go on... Seriously, the X-Cup probably won't be completely in the game.(Team USA vs Team Canada is probably the X cup...) Tommyspud 02:10, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Only if they used the logos, otherwise Midway would just have to deal with the wrestlers themselves(since most indy wrestlers own their own gimmicks). TJ Spyke 07:05, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

In story mode it will just say that all the countries have competed, and now it is down to America and Canada. --User:Kris Classic

Due to the models being in the trailer, are A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe confirmed?Freebird Jackson 04:01, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Animation

How will they animate moves like the Canadian Destroyer or the Hindu Press? The Spiral Tap and B.M.E. would be difficult too.Yugioh73036 19:48, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036

Well that is probably another reason why the game won't be released until 2007. But here may be a way they are making move animation. A Canadian Destroyer is basically to me a sunset flip pile driver. So that is a real easy way to break tough moves down to simple steps. A Hindu Press to me is a Whisper in the Wind mixed with a 450 Splash. The Spiral tap is just a Somersault Whisper in the wind. And as for the B.M.E. it's not hard for any springboard move to be animated.- Packratt200
I never looked at it that way.Yugioh73036 04:01, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036
If they use that method they could be done by Christmas.- Packratt200
The graphics look pretty good judging by the trailer.- Packratt200

From the hype about endorphin it may be possible they'll try to use it. but it won't work. Chewy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.186.139.224 (talk) 06:19, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Jeff Hardy

Roster

  • Is that roster completely confirmed? It seems like someone just posted the current TNA roster on there (along with some others). Wrestling games are usually not that up to date when it comes to rosters, and I somehow don't think the whole list is confirmed. RobJ1981 20:51, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm in the same boat as you. Most of those wrestlers look like they've just been tossed in for the sake of putting them in. Normy132 04:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Most likely, the cutoff date for roster will be Bound for Glory, so if the superstars appear then, then they will PROBABLY be on the roster. This means no Jeff Hardy, no Shannon Moore, and so on... Tommyspud 02:12, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Nobody has been confirmed yet. The cut off date is rumored to be Bound for Glory 2006. With it being still a month off who knows. I dont think even Hardy or Monty Brown will be in — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.188.34.200 (talk) 06:46, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
    • I removed the roster because no such announcement has been made. There's no mention of it on Midway's website, IGN, or GameSpot. It was also added by an anon user which doesn't help the credibility. TJ Spyke 06:52, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

If Jeff Jarrett and A.J. Styles are soon starting motion capture (which is confirmed), isn't that official for them to be in the game?Freebird Jackson 01:05, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Not at all. Generally the OVW wrestlers do the motion capture for the WWE games and they're never in the game. Normy132 03:00, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

With a model of Styles reportedly being shown, and him being an integral part of the roster, and with scans confirmed for Sting as well, aren't they confirmed on the roster?Freebird Jackson 01:01, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Get rid of the "confirmed roster" part

Somebody screwed with the confirmed roster list and added a whole bunch of people who aren't even with TNA anymore, including the late Chris Candido. Excuse me? Citation please? Chris cheese whine 09:29, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
No, MOS does apply here, because we're talking about a non-standard typography, which is specifically recommened against in our guidelines. -GTBacchus(talk) 01:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  2. Strong Oppose the official name of the TV show the game is based around is called TNA iMPACT!. See the logo for the show floating around for an example. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Normy132 (talkcontribs) 09:47, 10 February 2007 {UTC)
Quoting the MoS: Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules even if the trademark owner encourages special treatment. Please explain the exceptional circumstances here which preclude the MoS rules. Chris cheese whine 09:51, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
  3. Strong Oppose "Lowercased trademarks with internal capitals do not need to be capitalized if the second letter is capitalized" sounds like iMPACT! is covered in that to me.Freebird Jackson 15:57, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
That is patently not what the MoS says on the matter. Chris cheese whine 16:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
You can look for technicalities if you want, but Wikipedia doesn't run on technicalities. The point of that section of MOS is that we don't do special typography, except in a few cases, like iPod and eBay, which use lowercase letters as separately pronounced prefixes - different from what's going on with "iMPACT". -GTBacchus(talk) 01:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  4. Strong Oppose iMPACT! is the name, the same way WWE Smackdown! is not WWE Smackdown. Kris Classic 22:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
What has the inclusion or exclusion of an exclamation point got to do with this move request? Nobody's suggesting dropping the exclamation point. -GTBacchus(talk) 01:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  5. Strong Oppose that's the official title and spelling of the video game and we should not change it. Bmg916 Speak to Me 00:51, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
That's a non sequitur and you know it. Chris cheese whine 09:38, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Discussion

Add any additional comments:
  • May I suggest we stop this discussion/survey and focus on the one at Talk:TNA iMPACT!? Either side probably does not want its support to be scattered like this and the move or keeping of this page would be an uncontroversial follow-up after a consensus regarding the main article has been reached. - Cyrus XIII 12:21, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Note to closing admin - Because I've taken a definite side in this discussion, I'm not going to close this move request, but I would like to alert whoever does close it that this request and the one at Talk:TNA iMPACT! are essentially the same request, and should be closed together. (I'm leaving a duplicate message there.) -GTBacchus(talk) 00:17, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Unprotect?

Does this page need to be protected? Can we unprotect and see whether that works? -GTBacchus(talk) 19:37, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Given the way things have developed, and it appears the dispute is now one person vs. everyone else, it's probably simplest to unprotect the page given the clear consensus, and block User:TJ Spyke is he insists on "correcting" the typography. Chris cheese whine 20:33, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I've unprotected; we'll see what happens. -GTBacchus(talk) 21:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Block me for what? You were the one who moved the page despited the move request failing. Why you weren't blocked when you did that (and then prevented non-admins from correcting it) is beyond me. TJ Spyke 21:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree with TJ.Freebird Jackson 21:26, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Nobody was blocked for moving the page because blocks are preventative, not punitive, and nobody was move warring. -GTBacchus(talk) 21:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Chris was upset because the move request failed, so he moved the page and edited it (so that non-admins couldn't move it back). TJ Spyke 21:38, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I would say Chris disagreed with the closure of the move request; otherwise, I'm not sure what your point is. There was no ongoing damage to prevent by issuing a block. -GTBacchus(talk) 21:41, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
The move request still failed, so the page should be moved back somehow.Freebird Jackson 22:25, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, except that Wikipedia is not a democracy, and the previous title is not only at odds with our naming conventions, but inconsistent with all the other TNA Impact! pages. If a move request is closed incorrectly, we're not obliged to stand by it. The only reason to move the page back would be if there were a consensus to use stylized typography in article titles, but it turns out there's a consensus to eschew stylized typography instead. -GTBacchus(talk) 22:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Precisely. The consensus was called incorrectly (as the closing admin failed to take into account the already existing consensus that you were seeking to change). It happens from time to time - it's why we have processes such as WP:DRV. Chris cheese whine 22:34, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

The page is unprotected now. TJ Spyke cannot be blocked as long as he doesn't edit against consensus anymore, as blocks aren't punitive just as was pointed out previously. Chris, while your edit was one that would have needed to be made eventually anyway, your motives for making the move after a failed move request are in question. We assume good faith, but not to the point of being complete morons. Now, this dispute has been a disgrace. I think it is about time that we whack this thing in the face and leave it for dead. There is nothing more to sort out, so I think that it is time for us to return to our respective niches. Peace, -- The Hybrid 23:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

We assume good faith, but not to the point of being complete morons. Excuse me? Chris cheese whine 23:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
It's hard to assume good faith when you moved the page only hours after the move request (which you supported) failed. TJ Spyke 23:10, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I can't see that anybody's good faith is in question in this dispute. I've seen nobody do anything for any reason other than improving the encyclopedia, according to thier understanding. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:09, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

The appropriate action would have been to appeal to the actual admin citing the guidelines, and then to the Admin's Noticeboard if he rejected the appeal. The fact that he didn't do this causes me to doubt whether he was doing this in order to help the encyclopedia. It sounds like he did it out of spite to me, but since he is the only one who knows what he was thinking I have no way to pursue this further, nor do I have the desire. Peace, -- The Hybrid 23:14, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I did appeal to the actual admin, who rejected out of hand the possibility that they might have made a mistake. The resulting discussion decided that the articles should stay where they are. If you check the move history, you'll find that these move requests were actually to undo moves that put them in the wrong place. Strictly speaking, User:TJ Spyke should have filed the move request to put them in his preferred location. Instead he chose to move the pages and sabotage the redirects by adding a "." to them. And I'm the one having my motives questioned. Sheesh. Chris cheese whine 23:18, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
They were orignally at iMPACT!, sombody moved them to Impact! (without explaining why in the edit summary or on the talkpage), and I moved them back. TJ Spyke 23:24, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
... and then sabotaged the redirects. Chris cheese whine 23:28, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
It is entirely unproductive to keep talking about who "should have" done what, and who thinks who was acting in bad faith. It's over; leave it. We're all editors in good standing. Go in peace, and keep improving Wikipedia. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Is that the official cover art? If not it needs to be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.124.4.220 (talk) 02:16, 14 April 2008 (UTC) SHUT UP! 71.235.224.229 (talk) 18:49, 19 April 2008 (UTC) Stone Cold Steve Austin 71.235.224.229 (talk) 18:49, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Release date

Seems to be some confusion. The article lists the release date as September '08, but Amazon.com claims to be releasing it on June 24, 2008. ??? 69.156.178.85 (talk) 08:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Also, the release date on the sidebox of the article says May '08. Jesus. 3 different release dates. Make up your mind! 69.156.178.85 (talk) 09:00, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
The infobox release date was changed yesterday, and has been fixed.«»bd(talk stalk) 10:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Midway's Confirmed Roster So Far

Midway have confirmed this roster thus far go to the link as many of the wrestlers in the roster you have arent confirmed yet. http://wrestlingtruth.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1208788592&archive=&start_from=&ucat=3& —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.63.83 (talk) 14:45, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

The wrestlers in the roster section are sourced through the citation next to them. That's what the little blue number is for. The thing you link to doesn't even provide a link back to where they get their supposed "confirmed" list.«»bd(talk stalk) 13:14, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
