No T3 tankers likely ever held the AOG hull symbol
editFrom the article: The hull designation AOG is used by the US Navy to denote that the ship is a T3 gasoline tanker.
In fact it is probable that no T3 tanker was ever a gasoline tanker (AOG). Of the 82 ships to hold this hull symbol, 5 were commercial ships not built to MARCOM standard designs, 76 were T1 tankers, and 1 was a T2 tanker. See Ships of the U.S. Navy, 1940-1945
No T3 tankers ever held the AOR hull symbol
editWith the exception of the USS Conecuh, which was originally the German Dithmarschen, all AOR ships belonged to the specially designed Wichita-class. The AO and AOR symbols were not interchangeable.
