Psychological or political?

edit

At the risk of appearing to be doing original research, my petition here is merely aimed at tying up a couple of loose ends to make the article more precise.

The Palgrave reference I have added to the article mentions Fyvel working in counter-intelligence for the “Department of Psychological Warfare”. However, as far as I know, no such body existed under that name and it seems more likely to be a journalist’s slip of the pen (British intelligence preferred the term “political warfare” hence the Political Warfare Executive, while the Americans prefer “psychological warfare”, hence the Psychological Warfare Division of SHAEF.)

It’s almost certain that Richard Crossman and Fyvel were colleagues in British counter-intelligence – and Crossman later went on to work for Shaef - and their paths would again certainly have crossed at Encounter. Likewise, Crossman was a noted supporter of Zionism, with Fyvel being a relevant figure in the UK. So, does Crossman mention Fyvel in his diaries? Not as far as can make out, but I may have missed it. Is it a case of professional/political discretion? Would be grateful if someone can come up with the necessary reliable sources with which to expand the article. --Technopat (talk) 19:27, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
