Name change

Have removed a paragraph regarding a 2007 controversy over voting on the OOXML standard.
The removed paragraph notes that there were news reports at the time of the voting claiming that Microsoft partners were allowed by SIS to “buy the right to vote” in favor of OOXML. SIS rejects this this claim, and the original erroneous reporting in the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter was later retracted. The removed text is seen as presenting only one side of a dispute over a single standard. Because Wikipedia is a reference work rather than a blog, I believe that it sends a false signal to readers. In addition, the paragraph was out of date, noting that SIS would not partake in an upcoming ISO vote on OOXML standardization in September 2007. As SIS has managed voting procedures on thousands of proposed standards during its nearly 90 years of operation, this unique controversy is not representative of the organization’s activities and does not deserve to make up nearly half of its Wikipedia entry.
I am a representative of SIS, an organization that is committed to remaining a neutral facilitator for companies, agencies and non-governmental organizations seeking agreement on standards. With this background, I find it natural to remove this reference calling into question SIS’ impartiality.

I have changed our name because a change of name was decided by the SIS Council in April 2019. I have also deleted the part of the text that described an event (OOXML) that occurred over 10 years ago and which is only a small part of our 100 year old history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mansd (talk • contribs) 14:01, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

The OOXML affair

Shortly after an SIS vote in August 2007, organized to decide what format Sweden would vote for in an upcoming ISO vote, many newspapers published information about companies being able to buy the right to vote by paying some SEK 20 000 (equiv. to EUR 2 100 or USD 2 500), a rule which was used by a considerable number of Microsoft partners in the last few days before the vote, deciding the vote in OOXML's favour.

A few days later, SIS invalidated the voting (this, according to a press release, not due to the Microsoft involvement but due to some participants voting twice) and has declared that a legitimate vote session cannot be held before the second of September 2007, which is when the global voting is finished. Sweden will thus not partake in the global voting on ISO standardization of OOXML.
