Age

It's been a large dispute at Rae_Sremmurd. Sorry for not bringing it up here as well. There's been some discussion there, including Talk:Rae_Sremmurd#Ages.

WP:V says: "Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of editors." This 2013 discussion is favorable towards Allmusic. Furthermore, the 1993 year of birth is also cited by the Library of Congress [1] and Biography.com [2]. From my OR, I'd agree it's '93.

WP:DOB says we be very careful with such situations. He's indicated it's '95 and has indicated he'd rather not divulge his true year of birth.

Biography.com is a better source. Library of Congress entries are poor sources for such information. There's considerable discussion about AllMusic (45 discussions including the currently open discussion), and my conclusion that last time I reviewed them all is that it should not be used for disputed biographical information.

This is a POV and BLP dispute, so I don't understand the purpose of quoting from WP:V at all. Instead, we have to decide whether we have the required high-quality sources, if we can use Wikipedia's voice, and make it clear how we're deciding to resolve the contraditing information from multiple sources.

That said, I'm fine with leaving it with '93 sourced to biography.com for the time being. If someone comes along with BLP concerns, then BLPN or an RfC would be good next steps. --Ronz (talk) 17:05, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Proposed merge to Rae Sremmurd

I am seriously thinking about merging Swae Lee's page into the group he's on, Rae Sremmurd, because it's not that good of an article if we're being completely honest, only somewhat accurate, almost no solo information, and also Slim Jxmmi's article is redirected for pretty much the same reason. Maybe when Slim's article is created again, Swae can have an article of his own, but for now, I seriously want this article to be redirected. --Rockallnight5 (talk • contribs) 04:16, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

 Not done: Slim Jxmmi is not notable as a solo artist, unlike Swae Lee who passes WP:MUSICBIO. Just because one of the brothers doesn't have an article of his own, doesn't mean that the other can't have one. Brown or Lee?

This article refers to him a lot by his last name (Brown) instead of Lee, his stage name and the name he is notable as. I may be bold and change all the instances of Brown to Lee.
