Fair use rationale for Image:Stranger In Moscow.jpg

Image:Stranger In Moscow.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Michael Jackson's "Stranger in Moscow" and Sega's "Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Ending-Credits"

The "fact" that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 featured a version of the song Stranger in Moscow two years prior to it's official release on Michael Jackson's HIStory album should be added to the page. This is pretty much straight forward and can be concluded with a quick search around the net. A quick search on youtube would reveal, that the songs are technically the same, just at a different pace and pitch. Unfortunately this would probably qualify as original research.

Another problem is finding reliable sources: http://info.sonicretro.org/Michael_Jackson and http://sonicresearch.org/basement/?p=mj_s3 probably do not qualify as a reputable source. I think otherwise, since I attribute the interview with Roger Hector, Sonic 3's Executive Coordinator, a high credibility. It can be found here: http://info.sonicretro.org/Roger_Hector_interview_by_hxc_(August_2005) But as I said: This is up for debate.

However, a quick look at http://www.musicpowers.com/cirocco.html would reveal, that composer Cirocco was working with Michael Jackson on the Sonic soundtrack. It just doesn't explicitly link the songs in debate but reliably prooves Michael Jackson's involvement in Sonic The Hedgehog.

Taking a look at the Sonic 3 ending credits, Brad Buxer, Bobby Brooks, Darryl Ross, Geoff Grace and Doug Grigsby are listed. They all are also credited in the HIStory booklet. So this is another prooven fact, however no explicit link between the two songs can be concluded from this information.

None the less this deserves attention and is noteworthy since mainstream media like YouTube or AOLvideo cover a broad variety of subjects regarding Michael Jackson's involvement in Sonic 3.

Any help and support integrating this content into the article is appreciated. PabloGS (talk) 01:34, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Again, the links you present are not reliable, they have no credibility, then your tying in stuff about credits, but it's your little investigation. If I could find reliable sources I would add the text myself. Please, let's keep the discussion here. — Realist2 01:48, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, here's proof that Michael WAS a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog: The Truth: Michael Jackson's Sonic 3 Soundtrack--Angeldeb82 (talk) 22:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

In a magazine interview, Brad Buxer has confirmed that he and Jackson worked on the ending track for Sonic 3 and made the chord progression like Stranger in Moscow. Frankyboy5 (talk) 00:59, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Just fyi, here's a source for the interview with Buxer confirming that the chords written for Sonic 3 were later re-used for "Stranger In Moscow." [1] MMartyniuk (talk) 21:04, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Fou compilation llistings?

The article would be better without the four {{Extra track listing}} entries for compilation albums. — John Cardinal (talk) 21:40, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Since Allmusic have changed the syntax of their URLs, 1 link(s) used in the article do not work anymore and can't be migrated automatically. Please use the search option on http://www.allmusic.com to find the new location of the linked Allmusic article(s) and fix the link(s) accordingly, prefereably by using the {{Allmusic}} template. If a new location cannot be found, the link(s) should be removed. This applies to the following external links:

Observations

   HTML document size: 163 kB
Prose size (including all HTML code): 14 kB
References (including all HTML code): 57 kB

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, and grammar):   b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  1. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):   d (copyvio and plagiarism):
  • Reference 2 is a dead link.
  • A number of references go to 404. Some update is needed.
  • This article would merit running of the IAB over the references and then sorting the references that are not updated
  1. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
  • The overall tone of the new songs is one of defiance. Obviously Jackson is attempting to turn around all the bad publicity of the past few years, related to allegations of child abuse (he never has been charged with a crime). is the main focus of this track, clearly picked up by music reviewers.
  1. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  • Nominee has tagged Personel section of article for {{Unreferenced section|date=June 2021}} and immediately nominated article for GAR. This is designed failure for GAR.
06:43, 1 July 2021‎ Tbhotch talk contribs‎ 26,627 bytes +40‎ →‎ Personnel: I mean, it's not the sole section. This was promoted in 2008, and has not been maintained since then. So it naturally doesn't qualify as a GA anymore
  • The above statement (not been maintained since then) is patently untrue.
  • Tag removed during GAR.
  1. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  • Page created 15 November 2005
  • Page has 946 edits by 509 editors, with 41 page watchers
  • 90 day age views = 12,296 with a daily average of 135 views
  • Citation bot has been on the page 7 times; IAbot has visited 3 times
  • 22 vandalism reverts up to 2010, more came after the GA status...
  • 32 vandalism reverts from 2010 to present day
  • lot of reverts of unsourced information;
  • Page needs watching on a regular basis...
  1. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  • File:Stranger In Moscow.jpg = Cover by musician. Low resolution and fair use claimed. Accepted.
  • File:Michael Jackson Stranger in Moscow screenshot.JPG = = Screenshot from video. Low resolution and fair use claimed. Accepted.
  • Images considered appropriate and tagged like so.
  1. Overall:
  • This article would merit running of the Internet Archive bot over the references and then sorting the references that are not updated.
  • Else, the article is OK and keeps GA status. --Whiteguru (talk) 11:08, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
