Irish name
editBold text'Teach in Irish means house. When used with a saint's name it literally translates as 'the house of X', although it can also be taken to mean 'the church of X', Saggart (Teach Sagairt) and Templeogue (Teach Mealóg) are examples of this as is Straffan. Srafáin/Srafan was a saint in early medieval times in Ireland. Therefore I've removed the following line: 'with the prominent Straffan House (Teach Srafáin) influencing local life.' This in itself is a contradiction: how can Straffan and Straffan House be Teach Srafáin in Irish? If Straffan is Teach Srafáin then Straffan house should be 'Teach Teach Srafáin', or if Teach Srafáin is Straffan House then it stands to reason that the Irish name for Straffan would be just Srafáin. The deanery of Saltu Salmonis would be that of nearby Leixlip (leimh al Bhradain, the Salmons Leap, also Leix seems to have been old norse for Salmon) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthijs74 (talk • contribs) 11:21, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Layout nightmare
editI've removed the list below; apart from the multiple repeated links it occupies space disproportionate to the subject matter amd creates vast white space in the article. I suggest a collapsed template (assuming the information is notable). Sarah777 (talk) 00:19, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
