The 'Divisions and suburbs' sub-heading in the 'Geography' tab of the article should contain text underneath it

In my opinion, relevant information should be included under the 'Divisions and suburbs' sub-heading in the 'Geography' tab of the article as it looks strange having an empty sub-heading within the section. In my opinion, if information can't be put into it, the sub-heading should be deleted. Xboxsponge15 (talk) 19:23, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

The subsection appears empty to readers on smartphones, but actually does contain two navboxes which other readers can see. But I've removed the subheading as it isn't really necessary. -- Dr Greg  talk  21:36, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Population

Editors need to back up a claim with sources. 230k plus population is utterly ludicrous. It make it bigger then Bolton which Stockport is not and that's been left unchallenged without a 2021 census source to back it. DragonofBatley (talk) 18:12, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Wasn't Lombe Assassinated 10 years Prior to the Event Mentioned?

I'm confused because John Lombe supposedly died in 1722, assassinated by a woman hired by the Italians who believed he stole the design for their invention, the silk thrower, Can someone please clarify? The subject of the paragraph is John Lombe, and in fact he is the only Lombe mentioned in the article. But could it be a relative? Or a different year? Or,..???? Contradictory Etymology

This article contradicts the Stockport County F.C one, as it claims Stockport originally meant hamlet with a market but that article claims the name of the town is derived from the De Stokeport family. Which one is correct? Overlordnat1 (talk) 11:58, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

Both are referenced, but surely the family name "De Stokeport" indicates that they were "from Stokeport" and so the contradiction is just an issue of which came first. Lithopsian (talk) 15:10, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

I agree. There are a few things I’m unsure about or that seem a bit dubious that I’ve started a discussion about on Wiktionary’s Etymological Scriptorium. See the following link[1] Overlordnat1 (talk) 11:37, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
