Stirling, just wondering: I know it's not you, etc. etc., but is this a refutation? In case the link doesn't work, it says "Cosslett, V.E. British physicist, constructed the first microfocus X-ray tube as a part of his "Shadow X-ray microscope" in 1951 (Nature 10, 1951, pp 24). He started out of a suggestion by M. v. Ardenne."
