US$80 billions
editCould someone tell me what can US$80 billions do to the Chinese poor? Or, how many tons of gold US$80 billion can buy? Arilang talk 05:38, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Given the current price of gold of around $1000/troy ounce, it's around 2,500 tonnes/tons. But the price is quite high at the moment and the market rather volatile. I don't feel this would be a helpful detail to add to the article. Gareth Jones (talk) 09:33, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly how many tons of gold US$80 billions can buy is irrelevant, but FT Times's report should be allowed to elaborated a bit more, since the actions of such a rich and powerful organization is not subjected to media or opposition party's watch, we wiki editors no need to paint a rosy picture for China.
