Talk:St Matthew Passion discography

Latest comment: 4 years ago by Seanetienne in topic SATB order?

Why the title change? Why 'Recordings' instead of 'discography'?

edit

Why was the title chaged from Bach's St Matthew Passion discography to St Matthew Passion recordings? Is there any special reason? 'Discography' is standard for these lists, see Category:Classical music discographies. --Kleinzach 02:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps I have a wrong understanding of the terms, to me "discography" would mean a more complete coverage, so I modestly called my selection St John Passion recordings just recordings and adjusted St Matthew accordingly when the dot had to be dropped from the title to be consistent with St Matthew Passion. I like the title of the piece in front for easy finding. But please let's discuss here which name would be best, then all three (also Mass in B Minor recordings - an effort to "protect" what had been "thrown out" of the article) should be named consistently. - Having written this I see that the Mass is renamed already, thank you. I'll move this one then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:04, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

SATB order?

edit

I don't think the usual SATB order is good for this unusual piece, with the Evangelist and the voice of Christ clearly the most important voices. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:20, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Seanetienne, did you head me? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:47, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Another: In a sortable, we do link every time, because in a different sort, they will appear in different order. I don't want to destroy your work, but please consider restoring the links and the order of soloists, and never ever put too many changes in one edit. Better: announce drastic changes such as this on the talk well before making them. I will go out now, and hope to see changes when I return. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:01, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for not seeing this message earlier, Gerda Arendt... I didn't notice the order (evangelist, Christ, SATB) specified above. I have finished the restoration. Sorry for the disruption...Seanetienne (talk) 14:28, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
