Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)

Repeated reimposition of older version edit

I have improved this article with added references, and others have added the school crest and a photo. As such, the earlier version to which IPs are reverting it is less good. Yngvadottir (talk) 12:17, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have just once more reverted reduction of the article to a less detailed and less well referenced version. The edit summary refers to a "misunderstanding"; what misunderstanding is this? Yngvadottir (talk) 12:25, 28 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Notable alumni edit

Recently Arnold mukhia attempted to add names to this section here and here and here along with other changes. These were removed and the article was rolled back. Arnold has mention on his talk page he is "directly involved in St Paul’s School Darjeeling alumni matters". Arnold has been advised the policies on WP:COI editing.

If Arnold wants to add names to the article they can be listed here. All entries need a citation to be added to the article, but they can be listed here without, so other editors can search for citations.

However keep in mind we should not list people here who should expect privacy. See WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE.

Other policies to consider are WP:SOURCELIST, WP:LISTPEOPLE and WP:ALMAMATER. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 02:05, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

The list I put up are all the alumni of our school Arnold mukhia (talk) 05:04, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I meant for you to add them here, but it is fine. I fixed up the entries you made. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 04:44, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I removed this entry. As I said in the edit summery, This was all good, except you should only use posts on social media sites from the individual, not the school. Especially since you work at that school, the WP:COI editing comes into play. This vioolate WP:BLPSELFPUB as it involve claims about third parties. There is also the aspect of does the individual want his past posted on the internet. See WP:BLPPRIVACY. If he posts it himself, then there would be no expected privacy. The same if it was published on a company website or a non-gossip news website. Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites#Social networking websites mentions what can be used, but please try to find better sources if you can. These are WP:PRIMARY sources that are WP:SELFPUBLISH. You did include another citation that established the individual's notability, well done on that. I understand it can be frustrating that you know something to be true, but cannot find good sources to support its addition, but that how it has to be for Wikipedia to be the best it can be as an online free-content encyclopedia. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 16:14, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please also keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a directory. This list should not include every past alumni, only the most notable. If you make the list too long, we will increase the criteria. Probably the first criteria will be that the individual will have to have a well sourced Wikipedia article. So choose carefully who you put on the list. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 16:14, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

The notable alumni list should include any alumni who is notable. If the list becomes very long it can be split to a separate article. However names should not be added if they are not notable. The current list contains many red-link names. Some of those may be notable but it is better to write their article before adding them to the list. While the red-links have references they often do not establish notability - that is: multiple independent reliable sources with significant coverage. Gab4gab (talk) 11:34, 12 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
