Untitled edit

I propose that the format of this page be cleaned up and some of the contents edited from a language perspective. Unless anyone objects, I'll start in on it and complete it over the next few days. Schildewaert (talk) 01:03, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Listings of municipalities edit

Surely it is not worth retaining the map showing the numbered municipalities when the numbering does not coincide with the list. Schildewaert (talk) 01:05, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The two listings of municipalities is perhaps the most difficult feature of this article. I'm not sure what to do with it. For the time being, I'll leave it in, but surely the two lists should be merged somehow. Schildewaert (talk) 02:08, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The second list of municipalities has two links (right behind the municipal names) that do not work. Perhaps the originator of this list could repair this problem. It's a nice list but this aberration should be removed somehow. Ideally, the two lists would be merged. Schildewaert (talk) 02:49, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

List of islands edit

There are also content issues relating to the list of "islands". These apparently are not all true islands. The great majority are "islands" only in the sense that they are demarcated by (rather small) canals or rivers. I suspect this is confusing to people and needs an explanation. Schildewaert (talk) 02:54, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Virtually none of the links provided in the list of islands is still working. Also, this list is unnecessarily complicated by the addition of municipalities. Are the islands part of the municipalities? Or are the municipalities part of the islands? It seems much better to simply list the islands and then allow the reader to link forward to find out more about the municipalities that may be on the island or of which the island may be a part. For example, there is no reason to list Brielle (along with its defunct links) when the reader simply has to click through to Voorne-Putten to find out more about Brielle's relationship to the island. Subdivisions edit

The subdivisions need to be reorganised as separate articles. This listing is too, er, list-like and inaccesssible. Also, many of the links are dead. I understand that a contributor spent some time to include all these links but it was heavily dependent on a single site that is apparently no longer online (www.pzhregio.nl). I'll try to preserve as much of the original work as possible. Schildewaert (talk) 03:53, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

External links edit

There is a large number of external links, I would propose to follow some of the guidelines in WP:EL to reduce the large number. In particular: All the map links are redundant with the clickable coordinates and could be removed. The gazetteer links do not provide much and could be deleted, if information from them is used, they could be used as a reference. The 3 links to the official website can be reduced to 1, the SDU links are dead and can be removed or reintroduced as references where applicable. CRwikiCA talk 14:28, 10 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Industrialised edit

The Intro says: "South Holland is situated on the North Sea. It is one of the most densely populated and industrialised areas in the world".

Some doubts about that "most industrialised". It seems not very easy to find sources about that subject. But if somebody knows any and these show that the cited fact is right, than it doesn't have to be removed, of course.

I agree with you, it is a contentious statement. It would be better to state some of the major industries (Port of Rotterdam, oil refineries, green houses etc.), possibly with going into detail in the actual main text. The size of those industries might be easier to quantify in a global perspective. CRwikiCA talk 15:48, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
