This article was recently added to the Crime WikiProject by Bkissin (talk·contribs). However, there seems precious little in the article about crime in South Bend. The one mention of an officer-involved shooting of Eric Logan does not appear in the relevant Wikipedia article at the moment and this article would appear to be a coatrack for the shooting and its aftermath. I am left with a number of questions after reading this article, including:
What is is the departmental history since 1831 to 1910? What was it called initially and who controlled or supervised the constables?
How many staff did it have in 1903? How many vehicles on patrol in 1910? And how many women were employed in 1914 and what were their duties?
How many K-9 units did it recruit in 1961 and how many does it have now? Does it breed its own dogs or does it recruit them from another agency? And what breed(s) of dog(s) does it recruit?
How is the department organised?
How much crime does the department deal with each year?
What drive crime demand in South Bend?
What is the strategic focus of the South Bend Police? Are they focused on apprehending offenders or supporting victims, first?
Are they focussed on preventing crime occurring in the first place or just arresting their way out of the problem?
Do they only prosecute offenders or do they have other offender management programmes?
What research does the department undertake, if any, and who are their research partners?
Why was Officer O'Neil terminated? What was the policy changes introduced in 2019? When? And was this policy change before or after the shooting of Logan?
What is the relevance of there not being national coverage? And the local impact on the Black Loves Matter movement?
If it is mentioned in the article, do it properly and bring the relevant information into the article; don't leave the story in the sources, tell it here. Not telling the story doesn't stop the article being a coat-rack. The substantial content of the article has not significantly changed since it was tagged as a coatrack in April 2021, and rejected, so I am puzzled why this article has subsequently been accepted without being fixed first. Just adding some section headings doesn't fix the fundamental problem with this article. So I am putting the coat-rack tag back. Please discuss its removal and be prepared to explain why this article is no longer a coat-rack article before removing the tag, first. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
