I'm watching the pilot right now, and at least two of the contestants reek of Actor. Is this show even "real"? UPDATE: at 35:27 into the pilot, one contestant "8" has a wireless mic transmitter in her back pocket, indicating that sound technicians enter the pod rather frequently, or that the actors don't remain inside their pods for much time at all. I'm ashamed to say I have been on a reality TV show, and there is no way in hell a sound tech would allow you to go to sleep with his mic pack in your pocket, especially a show that has the kind of budget that allows for a grand prize of $50,000

Additionally, some of the camera shots in the pilot cannot be accounted for by the placement of the one-way mirrors. A camera operator would have to be inside the pod for some angles.

Another concern is the sheer number of camera operators this show seems to have in its employment. There are at presumably at least 9 cameras (one for each actor) but the filming implies multiple cameras per actor, likely numbering 3 per actor, for a total of 27. For a reality show, that is quite a lot of overhead.

This show, at least the pilot, is more like a piloshit.

Alarm Test in episode 1

"Only two of the nine players quit this challenge, with number 8 (Danielle) being just a mere second behind the eliminated player." Are you sure about that? I would think Fox just edited it to look like they pressed the button at closer times... Then again I could be wrong. --Terronez 22:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

The disclaimer at the end of the episodes ("Portions of this program have been edited without affecting the outcome.") implies that what we see may not occur in the actual order it happens in, but the outcome doesn't change. This means that it is possible she pushed the button an hour later, but they implied 0.1 seconds later in order to increase the dramatic effect.

Length Of Time

It would be nice if someone knows just how long each person was actually in those pods it would be a nice piece of information to add to the page. Are we talking days, weeks, or month+.

Say What?!

This show seems a little crazy to me. Keeping people locked in individual pods for who knows how long, treating them to physical and mental discomforts (enough, in some cases, to induce psychological trauma), and making them do insane challenges. Are there any reviews worth posting in this article that either support or denounce the show? The show's not at all crazy, it's completely level headed. My only regret is that this article neglects to use the one term which sums up what the contestants experience, that term, of course, being torture. The show uses tactics very similar to those used by a military to physically emotionally and psychalogically break down a prisoner. It's actually a very interesting look into the practice of torture in a safe environment (the contestants participate of their own free will).

By the way, is there some way we can include the word "torture"? That's clearly what the show focuses on, so wouldn't it help improve the article?

From the article: "any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity.". Contrast with the program: It is NOT involuntary (explicit in season 2's runup ep, they know what they're getting into; in any event, the standard Reality Show Contract states that there may be discomfort or pain etc as part of the program). Who keeps spoiling?

There is someone or some people out there who is/are consistently one-ahead and keeps giving away details to tests and treatments that haven't been released yet. How was I supposed to know who won this week's test without seeing it?

PLEASE. Stop giving away details to episodes that haven't been previewed unless we know it.

About the sources

Why is their a tag asking that someone put in some third party sources? Vandalism

Hello. I just skimmed through the article and actually missed any criticism on the series regarding human dignity and so on. As I am neither a native speaker nor have I ever seen the series, I cannot give any comment about this.
