Soldier of Fortune and Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix edit

A Realistic And Accurate Shooter edit

You've got to me kidding me. It's Wolfenstein 2000.

(and as a result, it's probably the best mindless game I've ever played, same perhaps for Painkiller)

I don't understand why the PR dept insisted on marketing this thing as realistic and gritty (actually, I do - it was probably to try and stir up controversy), but even the developers clearly knew they were making a thrill-kill blastfest - there's even a level that has you fighting (neo-)Nazis in a German castle. They couldn't spell it out any more clearly.

Anyway, my point is that this ridiculous misrepresentation should not spill into the Wikipedia entry. I shall fix this later, I guess.--Gwilym 19:20, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Criticism Section edit

Gwilym, no offense, but I frankly don't care about your personal opinion, or the opinion of the guy who wrote the things about realism in the article. This is an encyclopedia, and for that very purpose, any opinionated statements should be excluded from any and all articles except in the event that they are annotated as quotes in the criticism section of a particular form of media. For instance, it is important to note the criticism a video game or book recieved from specific critics and general audiences, but the content in the encyclopedia should not denote a bias to any one of these criticisms. Therefore, I will change the criticism section to an unvbiased and objective list of seperate criticisms in quotations from specific critics, rather than what it is now: a biased and opinionated paragraph with no objectivitiy whatsoever. Locations Section edit

The locations section is a horrible mess. It's hard to read, disorganized, and just plain inaccurate. I made one change. The change I made was in the Sewers section. The original text said that the player is fighting against Serb insurgents and Russian "Peacekeepers". In fact, the player is fighting Serb insurgents ALONGSIDE Russian "Peacekeepers". The Russians role in the level is to help you, as their mission is the same as yours. In game, the target reticule lights up red when targeting Serb forces, but green when targeting Russian forces indicating them as friendly. At the end of the level, you meet with the Russian military leader in charge of the Russian campaign against the Serbians. He is also friendly in nature, and gives much helpful advice to John and Hawk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.250.60 (talk) 03:42, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, the Russians are the enemy forces here allied with the Serbs. Remember the game was made after the real-life Pristina raid by Russian paratroopers under General Yevkurov which actually almost caused WWIII. Friendly forces are the KLA (Kosovar pro-independence militia). Russians are mentioned in the mission briefing but I don't know if they're in the game, maybe they're the snipers in what I think looks like their special forces helmets. In any case maybe we should have no reference of Russians at all. --Asperchu (talk) 17:36, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

The quote is a lie edit

In the paragraph about the violence there is a quote from some reviewer that states "one of my targets was on the floor, alive, yet gurgling softly through a hole in his throat". This certainly isn't featured in the game (at least in none of the versions I ever played). Enemies are either alive, in a short pain or death animation or completely dead and motionless. There is no such thing as people lying and suffering on the floor for several minutes making horrible noises. --188.106.103.101 (talk) 01:50, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
