Talk:Socialist Party of Malaysia

Neutrality of article

edit

Well no one took the time to explain the presence of the {{NPOV}} tag but I guess it's pretty obvious to anyone that this article reads like a pamphlet for the PSM. Hopefully someone knowledgeable can clean it up. Pascal.Tesson 02:18, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • What written here is the truth. It may sounds like from a pamphlet, but the pamphlet itself contains only the truth. The facts are there to be cross checked.
  • There's now a link to the official website which may act as a source - www.parti-sosialis.org. Also see my note under "Cleanup". kriskhaira (talk) 18:32, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
The section entitled The end of PSRM (1990) is a bit nuanced. Left wing parties have continued to exist even after the name change by PSRM, even if these parties did not use the term "Socialist" in their official names. Even socialism itself has a very wide spectrum and while PSM may not agree with the positions taken by other leftist parties like Parti Rakyat Malaysia and the Democratic Action Party, these parties' positions are still legitimate expressions of socialism. A rewrite should be due. - Bob K 04:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
The section should be left as it is because it marked the end of PSRM, not the end of left politics in Malaysia. DAP is not a socialist party. They've described themselves as both democratic socialist and socialist democrat. These two definitions are very different from just "socialist". There are Wikipedia pages for these different terms. Social democrat itself is already very different from democratic socialist. kriskhaira (talk) 13:27, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

This party is not even a registered political party in Malaysia and therefore whatever that is stated is challenge-able. Again, there's no source at all to whatever that's written in this article. 60.52.89.143 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:52, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup

edit

I'm going to cleanup the formatting of the page for legibility's sake. I'm helping out with PSM, but I won't be touching the content itself besides correcting mistakes, etc. In other words, I'm going to make it easier to read and edit, and the context of the article will not change. If this is not fine, please tell me. kriskhaira (talk) 18:32, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think at the moment PSM is NOT a political party as stated in the 1st sentence, so it should be corrected. What is it currently legally regstered as? Society, club, organisation, ? Then explain that the govt refuses to register it as a political party. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 05:18, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV

edit

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:45, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
