Historical setting of film

edit

This film takes place during the Red Terror at the time of the Spanish Civil War. This information is supported by reliable sources, being verifiable (as evidenced here). Per these core Wikipedia policies, it therefore can be included in the article. Besides, we need to keep in mind WP:RF; our readers would be interested in where/when the film takes place. The film does not take place during the Red Terror because the Red Terror is not a period. The film is firmly set by all accounts and purposes (other than the purported Marian apparition prologue in 1939 and the ending school scene on 20 March 1991) in the post-War period of Spanish history, internally referring to the previous War (the so-called Spanish Civil War, although, IIRC, it is not called that way either in the film) as a past event. The wartime sexual violence depicted in brief visions by the end of the film could be understood to be committed by militia members related to the Republican side, but this is not mentioned onscreen in any way whatsoever. I do not see a problem with enlarging the context for the film outside the plot section as discussed by relevant sources in a "themes" subsection with due attribution. However, I don't think that augmenting the "plot" subsection with these elements is an improvement. I also suspect that "dmtalkies" is not a relevant source (but an Indian minor blog which accidentally has been some of a spam-related nuisance on Wikipedia film articles), although I also think that similar statements about the context could be found in better sources.--Asqueladd (talk) 22:50, 8 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
