John A Kent
editThe article currently refers to "John a Kent, a raider of the Welsh Marches in 1482/3, whose mischievous exploits were recorded by Anthony Munday in the late 16th century in Munday's 'John A Kent and John A Cumber'". But Munday's John a-Kent is a wizard, not a border raider, and appears to live in the early thirteenth century (although the fourteenth century outlaw Gosselin d' Eyville appears in the play as well). The fact is that the fictional composite figure John or Jack a-Kent had already entered the popular consciousness by Munday's time, and his play is not based on any one historical figure but rather on a legend which probably owed a lot to Sion Cent and others. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.146.68.16 (talk) 21:16, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
