Talk:Shingle Creek (British Columbia)

I was standing in the creek when I took this shot too. Actually, I was standing in the exact same spot as I was when I took the first shot (the one at the top of the geobox on the main page), only with the camera tilted differently!
I took this one while I was standing on the rocky shore of the creek; pretty much adjacent to the spot I took the first 2 shots from, give or take a few feet downstream.

I uploaded all three of the images I took while in the the Shingle Creek area after going down the Okanagan River Channel in my kayak. The first & second images were taken while I was standing in the creek; it's very shallow (at least there it was; it doesn't appear to be that big of a creek anyway) & the rocks were not all that slippery so I managed to get in without dropping my camera into the creek's raging (sarcasm) waters. The third image was... well... let its caption do the talking!

Anyhow, I somehow doubt this but I suppose these images might be useful somewhere else & that is one reason why I put them here. The other reason is simply that I didn't want these pictures (all three of which I think are really good) to go to waste. As you can see, the lighting was great in all three of them! Not sure how to add this citably, but the thing about these Okanagan streams is the contrast to the arid, hot climate; I don't know how far up Single Creek this is but I'll be the greenery we see in these pics is markedly different from the surrounding scrub and sage and/or dry pine country; ditto with the Okanagan River itself; point is one thing that makes a minor creek like Single notable is the paucity of creeks in this area, relative to coastal areas; water dictates settlement as well as ecology in the Okanagan....anyweay maybe there's something in the Columbia Basin documents that can embellish this vis a vis the creek's setting - do you happen to have a view of its corure, from above or looking up from Penticton?Skookum1 (talk) 03:03, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
