Fair use rationale for Image:SACLogo.jpeg

edit

Image:SACLogo.jpeg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:11, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Under - Brands - the last sentence -"Sealed Air acquired Jiffy in 1987, from the Manchester based Baldwin Family." is incorrect

The firm was sold by a group of empolyee/investors - I was the Chairman of Jiffy Packaging at the time -1987 (the Baldwin Family was a licensee of Jiffy Packaging (USA)

Some proposed changes

edit
  • Information to be added or removed: (Disclosure: I work for Sealed Air and am hoping to correct some outdated information on the pages that are relevant to the company.)
  • Explanation of issue:

First, Sealed Air has three brands: CRYOVAC brand food packaging, BUBBLE WRAP brand packaging, and SEALED AIR brand protective packaging. The brands are always referenced in all-caps to differentiate them from Sealed Air Corp., the corporation's name. This is an issue throughout this page — SEALED AIR brand protective packaging is never referenced. Also, the logo has been updated: https://sealedair.com/sites/default/files/Sealedair_Homepage_Logo.png

In the history section, ideally the brand name for BUBBLE WRAP would be in all caps and the full name of that product -- BUBBLE WRAP brand original cushioning -- would be noted. (See the sentence before citations 7,8,9,10.)

Also in this section, it is inaccurate to state with certainty that Sealed Air produced the foam that ignited at the Station nightclub. That was never proven, although it is possible that the company's packaging foams had been misused as soundproofing material. Sealed Air did pay a settlement even though the foam was not proven to have come from the company. I would like to request that this sentence is updated to: "Sealed Air allegedly produced the foam that was ignited..."

In the Acquisitions section, several more changes are required: - AirCap is the Bubble Wrap trademark in the EMEA region. This seems unclear in the first paragraph. - The company has acquired several additional companies: Kevothermal, Reflectix, and most recently, Automated Packaging Systems.

Finally, in the "Company operations" section, this information is outdated. As part of a reorganization started in 2018, Sealed Air no longer has divisions. Instead, we go to market through our brands, noted above. CRYOVAC brand food packaging makes food packaging, and SEALED AIR brand and BUBBLE WRAP brand packaging produce protective and specialty packaging materials.

  • The capitalization used in articles for product names are not done so according to company preferences in all instances. Only in rare occurrances where the capitalization is widely known (iPhone, for example). Please demonstrate that the requested capitalization is widely known by providing references from multiple sources who are independent of the company and which show that Bubble Wrap is widely known as this company's product in all capitalized letters (such as The New York Times mentioning the product using ALL CAPS in one of their articles discussing the product, for example).
  • The proposal for the change to the Station Fire section does not adequately explain what is meant by the term 'allegedly'. If that term is to be used, then the full circumstances over why it is alleged, and by whom should be described.
  • "In the Acquisitions section, several more changes are required: - AirCap is the Bubble Wrap trademark in the EMEA region. This seems unclear in the first paragraph." It is not known what is being asked for here with these directions. An example which shows how specific these requests ought to be worded may be seen below:
Sample edit request

1. Please remove the third sentence from the second paragraph of the Sun section:

"The Sun's diameter is estimated to be approximately 25 miles in length."

2. Please add the following claim as the third sentence of the second paragraph of the Sun section:

"The Sun's diameter is estimated to be approximately 864,337 miles in length."

3. Using as the reference:

Paramjit Harinath (2019). The Sun. Academic Press. p. 1.

4. Reason for change being made:

"The previously given diameter was incorrect."
  • "Finally, in the "Company operations" section, this information is outdated." Please provide the correct dates for any information which is outdated.

Updated edit request

edit

Clarifying my previous request with hopefully more clear and direct edit requests!

As a result of a rebrand in early 2019, Sealed Air now has three brands: CRYOVAC® brand food packaging, BUBBLE WRAP® brand packaging, and SEALED AIR® brand protective packaging. The brands are always referenced in all-caps to differentiate them from Sealed Air Corp., the corporation's name. SEALED AIR brand protective packaging is never referenced on this page. Also, the corporate logo has been updated. The logo displaying on this page is outdated. Here is a link to the logo: [1] -- you can see the new logo throughout the website: [2]

In the Acquisitions section of this page, there are several companies and brands that are not mentioned. The company has acquired several additional companies: Kevothermal [3], Reflectix [4], and most recently, Automated Packaging Systems [5].

In the "Company operations" section, this information is also outdated due to the company's reorganization, which began in 2018: [6]. Sealed Air no longer has divisions (Product Care and Food Care). Instead, the company has been combined into one -- divisions have been removed -- and our product portfolios sit beneath our three brands: CRYOVAC® brand food packaging makes food packaging, and SEALED AIR® brand and BUBBLE WRAP® brand protective packaging produce protective and specialty packaging materials.

Thank you!

  • Thank you for your request. In reviewing it, I see that there are three issues which need to be addressed:
  1. The requested changes have not been explicitly made. What this means is that any text that you wish to have added to the article needs to be stated here verbatim. It's not enough to say "This section needs to be updated." The actual wording of the updates needs to be stated.
  2. It is not Wikipedia's practice to strictly follow the nomenclature used by organizations/companies, etc. when referring to their products. As I explained in an earlier request, the main determinator of how something is referred to is how it is commonly referred to, i.e., WP:COMMONNAME. (This includes unusual capitalizations such as the case with BUBBLE WRAP.) This is evidenced by having a preponderance of independent, reliable sources using the name as styled in a certain manner. Whichever manner that way is, will be the manner in which it is styled in Wikipedia.
  3. The logo needs to be uploaded to Wikipedia along with the appurtenant use license before it can be added to the article. You may use the File Upload Wizard to accomplish this. When that is completed, you would then notify us here of the uploaded file's name.
  • Please reformulate your edit request, taking into consideration the three points I've outlined above, and feel free to submit that edit request below at your earliest convenience. Regards,  Spintendo  15:32, 8 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
