I'm curious where the 1915 ridership of 2.2 million riders comes from? That's about an average 6,000 riders per day.WallyFromColumbia (talk) 15:01, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sounds high, but believable. Consider life in 1915. Few people owned cars, and even if you did, roads were treacherous, so you might choose to let someone else do the work. Hence almost everyone used mass transit. With service every half hour from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., 6,000 riders per day works out to about 50 per one-way

trip. Visualize people boarding and alighting for short trips all along this long route. You could have 100 or 200 riding short distances on a single trip. Just between Clarks Summit and Scranton during rush hour, there were probably 50 or more passengers per trip. 73.91.81.231 (talk) 21:49, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
