editI'm trying to make this article as detailed as others but you idiots keep undermining my work. STOP IT NOW!--24.186.96.236 (talk) 03:09, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Requested move
editScotty Valens (Cold Case) → Scotty Valens – As far as I can tell, there is (at the time of this writing) no other article called Scotty Valens and Scotty Valens just redirects to this Scotty Valens (Cold Case)-article any way. If there is no other article called "Scotty Valens", why disambiguate this article's name as Scotty Valens (Cold Case) instead of just calling it Scotty Valens? Agreed. Unnecessary disambiguation. Dimadick (talk) 15:32, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved, and I'll hist merge it in the process. The consensus is clear, so it's just a technical job to sort this out. This is complicated, because essentially the article lived for some time on its own, then was merged into "List of Cold Case characters" and then was sort of split out again (but also heavily rewritten at the time). I think having the history combined in one article, with clear links indicating that it was split out and then re-merged, will be best. Thanks for pinging me on this, Anarchyte — Amakuru (talk) 16:29, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- PS, on looking at this some more, I don't think it's necessary to preserve the history from the original version. I have kept it on wiki, at Talk:Scotty Valens/Old version, so that non-admins can still see it, but from what I can gather, that version was started in 2008 as a direct copy of text already in the List of Cold Case characters article at the time. The later history doesn't add anything to the text which is preserved in the current version, and in fact the current version was a direct fork of the text at the "List of..." article, unaffected by the text in the original Scotty Valens article. If that makes sense. Later revisions of the original article's history also don't add any meaningful content which is preserved to this day.
- Therefore I will not do a hist merge, I will simply move the article as is. Unless anyone objects. Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 16:38, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

- Support. This happened because the original article was redirected and then a new one was recreated here. If the article is moved, is a HISTMERGE in order? — AjaxSmack 03:34, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: If AjaxSmack is correct and a histmerge is required, an admin should close this. @Amakuru: opinion? Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:26, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
