editI've removed the text below, because while important information, it pertains to Scarabeini as a whole not Sceliages, and thus strays somewhat off-topic. It may be better placed in Scarabaeinae or Scarabaeini, along with a corroborating reference.
- The tribe Scarabaeini comprises some 146 species, ranges through the Afrotropical Region, Madagascar and the southern latitudes of the Palaearctic extending into the Orient, and includes the genera Scarabeus sensu lato, Pachysoma and Pachylomerus, with sub genera Scarabeus sensu stricto, Scarabaeolus and Sceliages. Drepanopodus is now regarded as being synonymous with Scarabeus sensu stricto. Many of the Scarabaeini have developed predatory and/or scavenger behaviour.
