For user Nmate:
- 1. If we write about modern regions, then we use their current most common names in English: in this case, such name is Bačka.
- 2. If we write about cities within Ottoman Empire then we use official names from this time (in this case, it is Segedin, not Szeged).
- 3. As for names in parenthesis, cities of Subotica, Sombor and Bač were during Ottoman rule populated by Serbs and today are part of Serbia, and I do see why you wrote Hungarian names for them. All 3 Serbian names were used during Ottoman administration. PANONIAN 16:35, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, if we use Bačka then we use Szeged. Pls indicate a source where Ottomans are using "Szegedin". Same as Budin, the name Buda is coming from Attila times, not from Slavic Vadim/Budim. For point 3, there is still a substatial minority (some cases MAJORITY of Hungarians) so why there is no tolerance to keep Hungarian names? Does it hurt your feelings?
